Why religion does not fit the modern times?

In a published book by Peter Seewald " Benedict XVI Letzte  Gespräche " ( Benedict XVI  last conversations).

Autor of this book asks Joseph Ratzinger  - how will be looked the future of christianity?   The answer is - the fact, we don't suit to modern culture. Therefore, the society of the West simply will not be Christian. I don't understand only what he had on mind, speaking - "we ...". I suppose That The Church.

Hmmm...regarding this answer of the man , who was the head of the Catholic Church, this answer sounds dramatic.  So The Catholic Church does not suit to modern Europe .

So what is the reason the church does not fit into the modern world?

We have two foundations on which Western civilization is based :

1) Christianity;

2) science especially like physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics and their  offshoots, like  engineering and medicine.

 Observing these two foundations we can see that they have trouble matching each other especially in the present day. The foundation of scientific powerful while Christianity crumbles. Another reason of this mismatch is the total helplessness of the Church if we compare scientific development. The Church looking for the way how to resolve this problem but this stagnation is still going. I suppose that  it was maybe the reason why  Benedict XVI abdicated.

The church realizes that the current time brought a huge upheaval in thinking through three revolutions; 1) in physics - the exploration of the mystery of the atom 2) in genetics- explores the mystery of life 3) in computer science

Penetration of technology in the atom and in the human body and also thanks to the cooperation of computer science with electronics, which allows  to create imitations of thought processes, all these things  created problems with which the church and also people have problems how to agree biblical world with the world of science.

The last attempt wich was maded  by church to find solution was The Second Vatican Council from 1962 to 1965, but ended in failure.

Encyclical of John Paul II " Fides et ratio", pope  presented only human striving for truth and development ( you can read here - fides_et_ratio ) but he didn't try to explain the issue of reconciling the biblical world with science.

If this helplessness with the growing problem of the church remain in a state of stagnation, actually we will have to deal with the collapse of Christianity.

I think philosophy can find a solution to this problem - to reconcile faith and reason - through scientific discovery of the Divine Nature.
