There's is a fundamental field of information that is the source of our consciousness. Consciousness is not an epiphenomenon of your brain, it's actually something that your brain is tuned into like a radio is tuned to a set of information.
Let's start with the sources of faith.
The human brain is different than brain of animals not only because of structure, but also because of the body structure - straightened body, smooth fingers, extended communication system and other human body values. There is a lot of talk today about the pineal gland thanks to which the brain developed the spiritual sphere and this has enabled development probably the artistic sphere like painting, writing, music ect. The development of the artistic sphere made man express his emotions by drawing. Example : drawings in caves

Wondering why these drawings show only scenes from hunting and not for example from the everyday life of women like preparing food, childcare ect? Maybe it was because they were performed by men, perhaps because the hunt was related to food and survival ? Or maybe because they believed in the magic of the drawing, because we notice there are only scenes ending with the success of hunting - killing the animal , never the other way round. There are no scenes showing death or injury of man during hunting. Following this way of thought, first time we notice the notion of faith , so - giving a high probability of the truth of the assertion in the absence of sufficient knowledge( according to the general interpretation of the notion of faith). Faith in the hunting success motivated, faith helped, faith encouraged what we observe to this time when our faith helps us in many situations.
In primitive communities, to survive difficult living conditions, each member of the herd cooperated with others. For example, he helped hunt, protect from wildlife, etc. The rules of conduct were simple and not subject to discussion. The breakthrough came when the man began slowly mastering nature - he could resurrect the fire, he learned the art of farming, he was no longer afraid of survival. So people needed new rules to live as society. Religions built on simple tribal superstitions that have not yet had a "theological" character began to be insufficient for subjecting people. It was necessary to introduce the concept of higher forces which rule the world and require obedience. Religions have also translated many phenomena of nature such as storms, lightning, illness and death. To this point everything seems to be simple. But why in many polytheistic religions the gods are human? Was it connected with the existence of giants on Earth?

"
But when religions disappear, people will return to fairy tales again, imaginary stories." I think they are coming back now.
